Two students from WZIS won Best Event Promo from the Intercollegiate Broadcasting System (IBS) for their work on an event promotion.
Calli Kohl, sophomore psychology major from Carmel, Ind., and Jordan Anderson, senior communication major from Paris, Ill., won the Best Event Promo award for their Spring Giveaway. This is an event where local businesses donate merchandise in exchange for the promotion of their company. All of the business’s merchandise is given to attendees as prizes through games or raffle tickets.
Unfortunately, this event was canceled due to Covid-19 but WZIS students are looking forward to continuing this event in the future.
“Jordan and Calli are both very talented and passionate about production,” said Rich Green, general manager of WZIS. “It really comes through in their work. I’m so proud of them both. It’s been a weird year so it’s nice to get recognition for all the hard work they put in.”
In addition to Kohl and Anderson’s win, WZIS was nominated for seven other national awards by IBS this year, including Best College Radio Station for a campus with over 10,000 students.
