On Thursday, April 10, poet Alyse Bensel will give a poetry reading for the Theodore Dreiser Visiting Writers Series. The reading begins at 6:00 pm and will be held in the Yang Family University Art Gallery (located in the Landini Center for the Performing and Fine Arts, 300 N. 7th St. Terre Haute, IN 47809).
Q&A and book signing will follow. This event is free and open to the public.
Alyse Bensel is the author of Spoil (SFASU Press, 2024) and Rare Wondrous Things: A Poetic Biography of Maria Sibylla Merian (Green Writers Press, 2020) as well as three chapbooks, including Lies to Tell the Body (Seven Kitchens Press, 2018). Her poems and essays have appeared in Cream City Review, Pleiades, South Dakota Review, and West Branch, among others. She serves as the Poetry Editor for Cherry Tree: A National Literary Journal @ Washington College and is the Reviews Editor for the Journal of Creative Writing Studies, an open-access peer-reviewed journal on the scholarship of creative writing. Originally born and raised in south-central Pennsylvania, she now lives in the Western North Carolina mountains, where she is an associate professor of English at Brevard College and director of the Looking Glass Rock Writers’ Conference.
