Come meet staff from the Gregory S. Fehribach Center on Monday, November 4, from 10am-noon at the Career Center.
The Fehribach Center hosts an internship program for college students with physical disabilities (mobility, orthopedic, visual, & hearing) in which students are placed in a paid internship in a position that correlates with their academic major. Internships are very important in preparing college students for employment after graduation, and this is especially true for students with disabilities. A good internship experience gives the student real-world work experience and important networking opportunities that will help in finding equitable employment after graduation.
To this point, 228 students from 42 colleges have completed a total of 468 internships, with 65 students interning in the summer of 2024. Internships are available for students who just finished their freshman year of college up to graduates within the last calendar year, and internships can be provided for nearly all academic majors. Among the 46 employers who have hosted Fehribach Center interns are: Eskenazi Health, Eli Lilly, Cummins, Ice Miller, BraunAbility, the Indiana Pacers, the Indianapolis Children’s Museum, and Christel House International. In addition to the internship, housing and transportation assistance is provided as needed, and impactful professional development opportunities are offered for Fehribach Center interns.
