Radical Self-Care – SPIRIT – Black Women, Mental Illness and Higher Education

Facilitator: Yolanda Williams

In this session, the facilitator will share her experiences and challenges as a Black woman in higher education with a mental illness (depression) and the stigma that exist around mental illness in the academy. The participants will also discuss the rights a student and staff members with mental illness has at the institution, as well as the universities’ responsibility to protect those rights.
