Fraternity and Sorority Life is promoting National Hazing Prevention week, held this year from September 20 – September 25. Organized annually by HazingPrevention.org, all but one event is fully open to the public!
Sunday, September 20 will be a free virtual webinar at 7:00 PM Eastern titled “Love, Mom & Dad: Turning Tragedy into Progress.” Featuring parents from the Anti-Hazing Coalition to share their sons’ stories and educate current students about hazing prevention. Monday ,September 21 all Sycamores are encouraged to wear purple in support of #NHPW2020. Individuals and groups should post photos on social media, and tag HazingPrevention.Org and @IndStateFSL. The best photo illustrating support for hazing prevention will win a prize (available to both and individual and a group).
Tuesday, September 22 all Sycamores are encouraged to complete and submit an Anti-Hazing Pledge online at https://hazingprevention.org/pledge and share it on social media with HazingPrevention.org, @IndStateFSL, and use #NHPW2020
Wednesday, September 23 will feature an educational topic town hall for the Fraternity & Sorority Life Tri-Council meeting on hazing prevention. All other Sycamores are encouraged to visit HazingPrevention.org to learn more about hazing prevention and resources available to them.
The final event will occur on Thursday September 24. Known as GORDIEDay, it will feature a free virtual film screen and Q&A at 8:30 PM Eastern of the film Haze: A Documentary that Addresses the National Crisis of Hazing and Alcohol Misuse.
