Move-in staff volunteers needed

Move-in for Fall 2023 is right around the corner! Students are currently signing up for their move-in appointments and we are inviting faculty and staff to sign up to help with the move-in process. We have a few types of opportunities to help out this year. Please read below for details and how to sign up. Please feel free to send this invite email along to others at ISU who might be interested. Thank you in advance for your help!

BRIDGE WEEK MOVE-IN, AUGUST 13
On Sunday, August 13 we have students who have signed up for the opportunity to engage in the Bridge Week Program. We also see specialty group like Band, some Athletes and approved student staff for campus offices return on this date. Please volunteer for these shifts if you would like to meet new students and help them unload their vehicles and move into their rooms. We have 2.5-hour shift possibilities for the Morning/Afternoon. Move-in volunteers will be one of the first people students and families meet as they begin their time at ISU! While assisting these students, you will have several moments to greet and interact with students and families as you assist with their move-in.

LOCAL MOVE-IN, AUGUST 17
On Thursday, August 17 we have invited new residents who live in Vigo and the surrounding counties to move in a day early. Please volunteer for these shifts if you would like to meet new students and help them unload their vehicles and move into their rooms. We have 2-hour shift possibilities for the afternoon/evening and we would like to place as many volunteers as possible to assist with this new Thursday move-in option. Move-in volunteers will be one of the first people students and families meet as they begin their time at ISU! While assisting these students, you will have several moments to greet and interact with students and families as you assist with their move-in.

MOVE-IN WEEKEND, AUGUST 18 to 20
This year we have returned to a more traditional move-in weekend for Friday, Saturday and Sunday, August 18-20. For the weekend shifts, volunteers will assist with traffic control in the parking lots by greeting vehicles and monitoring the 20-minute unloading zones. We will have 3-hour shifts spanning the move-in time frame each day and plan to have two or three people in each parking lot. There will be detailed instruction at your parking lot and Residential Life team members will be stopping in frequently to answer any questions you may have. Parking lot volunteers direct families where to park when they arrive on campus, document their arrival times, and encourage them to quickly unload and then move to another parking lot for the duration of arrival weekend. Parking lot volunteers often answer questions about campus, the community, and have the opportunity to greet our students and their families!
