Faculty Center for Teaching Excellence Announces Master Teacher Program Coordinator
Melissa Nail, Professor of Teaching and Learning in the Bayh College of Education, has been named Coordinator of the Master Teacher Program, a premiere program of the Faculty Center for Teaching Excellence, which launched in fall 2017.
Dr. Nail brings teaching excellence to the coordinator position, having had experiences as a classroom teacher in public education, as a teacher consultant for the Mississippi Department of Education through the Mississippi Writing/Thinking Institute, and as a long time faculty member in the Bayh College of Education. She has often been recognized for impacting student success on the First Destination Surveys and was awarded the Caleb Mills Distinguished Teaching Award in 2017.
“Dr. Nail brings a strong skillset to the Coordinator position. She is passionate about teaching and is eager to carry on the torch for the execution of an excellent Master Teacher Program on our campus” said Molly Hare, Director of the Faculty Center for Teaching Excellence. “I am thrilled to have Melissa join us on the FCTE team.”
The Master Teacher Program is in place as an 18 month program and includes curriculum and learning content. Dr. Nail will be meeting with academic units to discuss the program and invite applicants to participate.
“I am excited to be a part of the Master Teacher Program and I’m looking forward to the opportunity to engage with great faculty throughout our campus. This program and the faculty who commit to it are a testament to our commitment to student success,” said Melissa Nail.
