James Greene, Associate Professor in the Department of English, is continuing in his role as the Academic Affairs Faculty Fellow for Artificial Intelligence in the Classroom. Dr. Greene developed and delivers a faculty certificate course regarding artificial intelligence and its application in the college-level classroom.
Dr. Greene has been a faculty member at ISU in the Department of English since August 2018. He is the author of The Soldier’s Two Bodies: Military Sacrifice and Popular Sovereignty in Revolutionary War Veteran Narratives, published by Louisiana State University Press in 2020, along with other articles on early American literature. In addition to his regular teaching, he currently serves as Director of Graduate Studies for the English Department. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Kentucky, and a doctorate from West Virginia University.
“Generative AI programs like ChatGPT have created a need to rethink so many of our assumptions about teaching,” said Greene. “I’m happy to be part of ISU’s response to these programs because I think it’s essential that we see large language models as a tool, rather than a threat.”
