Indiana State University has selected Shonta Sellers as the new Executive Director of Institutional Marketing. Sellers joins the University with over 20 years of strategic marketing experience across higher education, corporate, and small business sectors. Sellers will be leaving James Madison University (JMU) in Virginia, where she serves as the Director of Marketing & Communications and Director of Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Initiatives within the School of Professional & Continuing Education.
Sellers is actively involved in service to the institution and community at JMU. She earned a Master of Business Administration-Marketing from Capella University and a Bachelor’s in Business Management at North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University. Sellers is active on various community boards and groups related to economic development and community service.
“I am very excited and grateful to be joining the team at Indiana State. There has been so much work done already to lay a strong foundation for growth. I’m eager to dive in and continue building that foundation as we bring a personalized Sycamore experience across the state of Indiana and beyond. Thank you for bringing me into your community. I look forward to building relationships across campus and seeing our enrollment soar,” stated Sellers.
Sellers joins the leadership team as the University and much of higher education attempts to recover from the enrollment impacts of the pandemic. The University recently launched a bold institutional initiative, the Indiana State Advantage, a three-pronged guarantee to entering first-year students that boasts a Tuition-Free Guarantee, Four-Year Graduation Guarantee, and a beyond-the-classroom Experiential Guarantee.
Dr. Jason Trainer, Vice Provost for Enrollment Management, welcomes Sellers to the Sycamore community.
“Ms. Sellers brings a wealth of marketing experience to Indiana State University. The institution has created some wonderful programs within the Indiana State Advantage. As we seek to promote and leverage these programs, I am confident her leadership will significantly impact our future success. She has a positive energy that I believe will be magnetic across campus and the community.”
Sellers will begin her duties at Indiana State in early February.
