Dr. Mary Howard-Hamilton receives advocacy award

The American Association of Blacks in Higher Education Advocacy Award was presented to Dr. Mary Howard-Hamilton (third from the left) and members of the Saving Our Sisters (SOS) Collective on March 24 at the national convention that was held in Las Vegas. The Advocacy Award is presented annually to an individual or organization that works with marginalized groups and engages in actions to enhance educational opportunities for all. The mission of the SOS Collective is “to supply our sisters with the resources and space to breathe and dream. We resist and combat forces that seek to harm Black women in the academy and beyond through collective action, ensuring that Black women never feel alone in their fight for freedom and well-being”.
