Office of Sustainability launched a new bike share pilot program this week at Earth Day. The office partnered with Spin, a bike-share company that will have 100 orange bikes spread across campus starting Wednesday, April 18!
You can pick up and ride a bike for $0.50 every half-hour or unlimited 30 minute rides for $14/month (when you sign up through the app with your @.edu email address).
Spin bikes can be found across all bike racks on campus.
Here’s how it works:
(1) Download the app by searching “Spin Bikes” on the app store and sign up with your .edu email address.
(2) Pull up the app and locate a bike nearby
(3) Scan the QR code on the bike to unlock it
(4) Start your ride
(5) Drop off and lock the bike by an existing bike rack!
Here is a 50 second video showing how Spin bikes work.
At ISU Spin Bikes must be parked at or within a few feet of a bike rack on campus. Spin Bikes must also “live” on campus — while you may ride them off campus, you must return the bike to a bike rack on campus by the end of the day. Spin may charge account relocation fees for not following these rules.
This program will allow for more students to take advantage of the bikes, be it to get from one end of campus to the other when you are in a rush, or to take them out for a leisurely ride during the weekends.
So excited to bring something like this to State and hopefully make it a little easier to get around campus.
