Bailey College of Engineering’s Construction Management team wins Inaugural AGC Collegiate Construction Cup

A team of Construction Management students from Indiana State University’s Bailey College of Engineering and Technology has claimed first place in the inaugural Associated General Contractors (AGC) Collegiate Construction Cup (CCC). Competing in Indianapolis, Indiana against teams from Purdue University, Ball State University, and Purdue University Indianapolis, the Indiana State students showcased their expertise, teamwork, and problem-solving skills to secure the championship title.

The winning team was led by Emma Harvey and included Damon Gruca, Braidyn Hudson, Killian Heninger, and Jacob Kelley as the primary presenters. Additionally, Liam O’Sullivan and Wendy You were on the team and played a key role in preparing the team’s presentation.

The students were coached by Construction Management instructor Wes Bedwell and received valuable guidance from Mike Peterson of Garmong Construction and Mike Jones, a superintendent with Walbridge Construction. Their mentorship provided the team with industry insights and strategic direction, helping them refine their approach to the competition.

“This win is a reflection of our students’ dedication and the strong industry partnerships we have at Indiana State University,” said Wes Bedwell. “Their ability to apply classroom knowledge to real-world challenges is what set them apart in this competition.”

The AGC Collegiate Construction Cup challenges students to develop and present solutions to real-world construction management scenarios, testing their skills in estimating, scheduling, and project leadership. The Indiana State team’s outstanding performance earned them first place, with Ball State University finishing second and Purdue University taking third.
