Applications are now live for an Alternative Spring Break to Walland, Tennessee! Join us March 5-11, 2023 to engage in service learning with Once Upon a Time. Their mission focuses on the Eastern Band of the Cherokee Nation, the environment, Sustainability efforts and rural Appalachia. They cooperate with several area agencies and communities: the Rocky Branch Community, Sequoyah Museum, and Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The trip will involve volunteering three (3) days in a school and 1 day at an activity center for youth and elders.
The trip will also include one day visiting and volunteering in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and at the Sequoyah Museum, as well as one day volunteering in the Rocky Branch community. We will be homesteading at Once Upon a Time. Students can earn 2 hours of college credit (SOWK 400 Topics in Social Work: Community Engagement).
