Age 65 or older? COVID-19 vaccine is now available for Indiana residents age 65 and older

Indiana State University Office of Employee Benefits wanted to inform you that the COVID-19 vaccine is now available to all Indiana residents age 65 and older. You can schedule an appointment now through the state’s site.

How can I schedule an appointment online?

• Visit ourshot.in.gov using either Firefox or Chrome web browsers.
• Select “Click here to find a vaccination site and register” to access the registration portal (you’ll find the link in a red bar near the top of the page).
• Choose the county where you want to get your vaccination from the menu on the right side of the screen, and then choose the location. (You can also search for a site using your ZIP code by clicking on the search icon that looks like a magnifying glass at the top of the right-side menu.)
• Register yourself or an eligible person using their name and age.

How can I schedule an appointment over the phone?

Call 211 to speak to a representative who will make an appointment for you. Call center hours are 8 am to 8 pm daily. A family member may also call to schedule for you.

Please note: The COVID-19 vaccine requires two doses to be effective. You will schedule an appointment for your second dose while at your first appointment. Keep this in mind when choosing a day/time for your first dose. You need to be available to return to the same location 19-23 days after your first appointment (Pfizer vaccine), or 28 days later (Moderna vaccine).

Do I need to bring anything with me to my appointment?

You should bring a photo ID with you. If you have any insurance, please bring your insurance card. They will collect the information to bill a small administration fee to your insurance company, but no cost will be charged to you.

How much does the COVID-19 vaccine cost?

The COVID-19 vaccine is available at no cost to you. You will not have to pay a fee or any other extra charge. The federal government has arranged to buy the vaccine and provide it to everyone who wants it.

Why should I get the COVID-19 vaccine?

Stopping a pandemic requires using all the tools we have available. The combination of getting vaccinated and following CDC’s recommendations to protect yourself and others will offer the best protection from COVID-19. The vaccines are highly effective, safe and have shown minimal side effects.

We’re all in this together. Please talk to your family and friends and encourage those who are eligible to sign up for the vaccine, too.
