Read a banned book – American Library Association’s Banned Book Week (October 1-7)

This is an invitation to the campus community to participate in Read a Banned Book Out Loud in celebration of the American Library Association’s Banned Book Week (October 1-7).

Theme: “Let Freedom Read”

Activities On Campus:

Join us in the Cunningham Memorial Library Events area on Tuesday, October 3, from 11:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., to listen to or read a banned book out loud.

Join us in the African-American Cultural Center, on Wednesday, October 4 to read from Ghost Boys by Jewell Parker Rhodes.

Join us in Holmstedt Hall 223 on Wednesday, October 4, from 4:00 – 5:15 p.m. (bring a selection to read).

Read a banned book out loud at the start of an organization, department, or unit meeting, or, have your class read excerpts from banned books. Let us know when you are reading and what you are reading. Also, post your activity on social media.

Lastly, individually or collectively, read in the quad, at the fountain, or in the Commons!
