Professional Development Workshop: Universal Design for Learning

Are you in the process of planning your fall courses? Would you like to explore a planning and design framework focused on meeting the diverse learning needs of all learners? The Faculty Center for Teaching Excellence (FCTE) is offering a series of workshops on Universal Design for Learning (UDL). UDL is an evidence-based framework for planning and designing learning experiences that is based on brain science. This series of workshops will introduce UDL and then explore the different principles of UDL. Attend as many or as few of the sessions as you would like. Each session is designed to be a stand-alone learning experience as well as a part of the series. Participants may attend any session for professional development and participants may also select to extend their learning to earn a UDL certificate.

Mark your calendar and plan to attend our first session on August 9 from 1:00-2:00 in the FCTE. This session will provide an overview and introduction to UDL to support faculty in beginning to think about and plan for a learning environment with flexibility that supports all learners’ success.

Future sessions (all scheduled for the FCTE) include:
• August 30, 12:00-1:00: Overview/Introduction to UDL
• September 27, 12:00-1:00: Student Engagement with UDL
